How to Cancel the Hulu Free Trial Before You Get Charged

Go to secure.hulu.com/account, click Cancel your subscription under Your Subscription, and confirm. You keep access until the last day of your trial.

Open a browser and navigate directly to secure.hulu.com/account. You must be logged in to the account that has the trial.

Find Your Subscription section
Scroll down to the section labelled Your Subscription. It shows your current plan, billing date, and plan status. You will see a Manage Plan option.

Click Manage Plan
This expands the plan management options. You will see the option to Cancel your subscription. Do not click any upsell offers that may appear.

Click Cancel your subscription
Hulu may show a retention offer - a discounted plan. You can ignore this. Click Cancel anyway or No thanks to continue to the actual cancellation confirmation.

Confirm cancellation
Hulu asks you to confirm. Click Continue to Cancel. Your subscription status changes to Cancelled. You will receive an email confirmation.

Check your email confirmation
Hulu sends a cancellation confirmation email to your account email. Save this as evidence in case of any billing dispute. Your access continues until the last day of the trial.

Cancelling if you signed up through a third-party platform

This is the most important section of this guide. If you signed up for Hulu through Apple, Google Play, Roku, or Amazon, you cannot cancel via hulu.com. Attempting to cancel via hulu.com while billed through a third party will show a cancel confirmation, but your third-party billing will continue. This is the most common source of unexpected charges.

What if you were charged after cancelling?

If you cancelled within the trial window but were still charged, contact Hulu for a refund.

Pause vs cancel - brief note

Hulu offers a pause option that suspends billing for 1-3 months without cancelling your account. Pausing is available only on paid subscriptions, not during the free trial.
